2014-T6511, AMS QQ-A-200/2 and Aluminum 2014 at Flight Metals

2014-T6511 aluminum alloy is one of the strongest and most durable aluminum grades available. It’s often used in applications where it must withstand rigorous conditions, such as aerospace, heat exchangers, and and structural architectural parts.  One of the most common specs for this material is AMS QQ-A-200/2.  This metal however does have some drawbacks which make its use restrictions evident- primarily poor corrosion resistance against elements like water vapor at high humidity levels .  The Aluminum 2014 alloy is one of the strongest and most durable screw machine alloys on today’s market. Aluminum 2014 has good machinability, but not perfect for every application like weldability or corrosion resistance; however you can substitute this material with similar ones if needed – such as 2024 (which may be more affordable).  2014-T6511 has good machinability, but not suitable for every application like corrosion resistance or weldability; though you can substitute this material with similar ones if needed – such as 2024 (which may be more affordable).
